Pokemon Presents 2026: Every Game Announced (Winds and Waves, Pokopia, and More)

The Pokemon Presents 2026 stream aired on February 27, Pokemon Day, celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary. In 25 minutes, The Pokemon Company dropped over a dozen announcements ranging from the Gen 10 reveal to classic game rereleases to mobile event updates. Here’s everything that was announced.

Pokemon Winds and Waves (Gen 10)

The biggest reveal of the show. Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves are the Generation 10 mainline RPGs, built exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 and launching globally in 2027. Game Freak is developing both titles.

The setting is an open-world region made up of islands and ocean, with what appears to be Southeast Asian inspiration (Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines based on early fan analysis of the trailer). Underwater exploration is confirmed, which makes sense given the nautical theme.

Three new starters were revealed:

• Browt (Grass) – the Bean Chick Pokemon. Described as lively but clumsy.
• Pombon (Fire) – the Puppy Pokemon. Guileless and friendly. Already a fan favorite going by the reaction online.
• Gecqua (Water) – the Water Gecko Pokemon. The intelligent one of the trio.

The trailer also introduced Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, two redesigned Pikachu with a tropical, slightly darker look. Fans are speculating they’re Shiny variants. They seem to be version-exclusive companions, with Mr. Windychu tied to Winds and Ms. Wavychu to Waves. Their exact role in the story hasn’t been confirmed, but the trailer shows them involved in the adventure.

One smaller detail worth noting: Winds and Waves will be the first Pokemon games to support Brazilian Portuguese as a language option.

Pokemon Champions

Pokemon Champions is a competitive battle game coming to Switch, iOS, and Android in April 2026 (see our full Pokemon Champions overview for launch details, roster, and mechanic changes). It’s a 1-2 player title focused on battling through competitions and a Battle Arena to earn the Champion title.

The interesting wrinkle is Mega Evolution integration. Champions has a crossover campaign with Pokemon Legends: Z-A that awards Mega Stones (Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, Greninjite, and Floettite). It also connects to Pokemon HOME, though Pokemon brought into Champions can’t be sent back.

Pokemon Pokopia

Pokopia launches March 5, 2026 and got a fresh gameplay showcase during the stream. It’s a town-building game with up to 4-player multiplayer, featuring a few new Pokemon forms including DJ Rotom (Stereo Rotom) and a chef variant of Greedent.

The standout reveal was a Prop Hunt-style hide-and-seek mode, which could give the game some longer legs than a typical building sim. Classic Game Rereleases

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are available right now on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 as digital downloads at $20 each. These are the 2004 Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Red and Blue. Pokemon HOME support is confirmed for a future update, so you’ll eventually be able to transfer anything you catch.

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is joining the GameCube Classics library in March 2026 for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. This one’s been a collector’s headache for years because loose GameCube copies regularly go for $80+, so having it on Switch 2 is a welcome addition. Note that there’s no Pokemon transfer support for XD, so what you catch stays in the Orre region.

The Presents also confirmed a Legends: Z-A mystery gift for Mega Garchomp Z, which went live during the stream. If you link Z-A to Pokemon HOME, you can also receive alpha versions of Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile.

Mobile and Live Service Updates

Every active Pokemon mobile game got at least a mention. Here’s the rundown:

• Pokemon GO – Tour: Kalos Global runs February 28 through March 1, followed by a Kanto event (March 3-6) and a massive Pokemon appearance event (March 7-9). • Pokemon TCG Pocket – Limited-time missions and 30th anniversary accessories available from February 27 through June 26.
• Pokemon Cafe ReMix – New Kanto Pokemon with outfits arriving February 28.

World Championships and PokemonXP

The 2026 Pokemon World Championships will be held in San Francisco in August, with finals at the Chase Center. Over 3,000 players are expected to compete across Pokemon Champions (making its competitive debut), TCG, GO, and Unite.

Alongside Worlds, The Pokemon Company announced PokemonXP, a new fan-focused event at the Moscone Center. It’ll feature interactive exhibits, pin trading, cosplay showcases, panels, workshops, and an on-site Pokemon Center store. Multi-day pass interest signups open April 2 through April 23, with single-day passes going on sale in early summer.

Game Boy Music Collection

One of the more unusual announcements: the Red & Blue Game Music Collection is a physical Game Boy-shaped jukebox that comes with 45 insertable cartridges, each containing a track from the original Pokemon Red and Blue. It’s available through the Pokemon Center website. A novelty for sure, but if you grew up with the original soundtrack, the nostalgia factor is real.
