Aion 2 Class Tier List: Best Class for PvE, PvP, and Solo Play

This Aion 2 class tier list ranks all 8 launch classes for the global servers that opened on October 5, 2026. Chanter and Templar sit at the top. Gladiator, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, and Cleric are close behind, and Assassin and Ranger trail at launch.

NC has not confirmed a class change option, so treat your first pick as permanent.

The free launch brought a crowd. Aion 2 had 366,433 players online on Steam at 16:44 UTC on October 7, more than double the 171,530 early access peak on September 30.

How the Classes Are Ranked

Each tier combines four measures. The global servers start at Season 1 content but include the class balance changes NC made in Korea.

• Damage index: the aionflex.gg tracker compares each class’s median damage on the same boss against all classes at the same Combat Power, where 100 is the median. The global figures below cover 189,389 uploaded kill logs as of October 7, 2026.
• Leaderboards: a launch-week snapshot of one global server (Ereshkigal, Asmodian side) published by Space4Games on October 6.
• Korean ratings: a March 2026 Inven community rating built from characters above 3,500 rating, plus Korean and Taiwanese community tier lists after the July 2026 balance changes.
• Player reports: launch-week threads on the r/Aion2 class thread and the r/Aion2 solo class thread.

The index measures damage only. Cleric and Chanter numbers count the damage they deal while healing, so a low Cleric score does not reflect its healing. The tracker also misses some summon damage, which means the true Spiritmaster figure is higher than its listed 113.

S-Tier Classes

Chanter

Role: hybrid support | PvE: S | PvP: A | Solo: S

Chanter has the highest damage index on global servers, at 124 typical and 116 at the top end, and it adds group buffs and backup healing on top of that damage.

On the Ereshkigal snapshot, Chanters held 11 of the top 17 Ascension Trial places, and the fastest Chanter cleared Hard in 2:17. Chanters also held most of the Abyss positions. Chanter is a melee class, so it needs to stand close to the fight.

Templar

Role: main tank | PvE: S | PvP: S | Solo: A

Templar is the main tank, and its damage index of 106 typical is above the median. In the Korean Inven rating it tied with Assassin for first place, and Korean community lists after the July patch put it in S-tier for both PvE and PvP.

Only 11.1 percent of level 45 characters on global servers are Templars, and dungeon groups need a tank. One player on r/Aion2 wrote that they were “surprised at how hard it blasts PVE content.” A tank is expected to know each dungeon’s layout and boss mechanics.

A-Tier Classes

Gladiator

Role: off-tank, melee damage | PvE: A | PvP: S | Solo: S

Gladiator is a contested placement. Gladiators led the Nightmare leaderboard on the launch snapshot, and Korean lists after the July patch rate it S-tier for PvP. Its global damage index is only 90, though, below every class except Assassin and Cleric.

One player on r/Aion2 reports that dungeon groups expect a Gladiator to hold aggro when no Templar is in the party, so learn the tank role even if you plan to deal damage. Lifesteal on its combos and high durability make it a forgiving melee class for solo play.

Sorcerer

Role: magic damage | PvE: A | PvP: A | Solo: B

Sorcerer has the second-highest damage index at 117, and the top Abyss scorer on the Ereshkigal snapshot was a Sorcerer with 198,056 points and 559 kills. It is also the second-least played class, at 9.2 percent of level 45 characters.

The weakness is mobility. Some Sorcerer skills require you to stand still while casting, and its defenses are low.

Hellfire, its core burst skill, has a 45-second cooldown. Its third specialization, unlocked at skill level 8, lets you cast it while moving, so raise Hellfire first.

Spiritmaster

Role: summoner, control | PvE: A | PvP: A | Solo: S

Spiritmaster posts a damage index of 113. Its spirit can take aggro and block attacks. One r/Aion2 player who leveled both an Assassin and a Spiritmaster to 45 wrote, “I just face tank everything” on the Spiritmaster.

In the Korean Inven rating, Spiritmaster scored the maximum 5 for Abyss PvP. Some databases list this class as Elementalist. Spiritmaster is the name the official global site uses.

Cleric

Role: main healer | PvE: S | PvP: B | Solo: B

Cleric is the main healer, and Korean lists rate it S for PvE because harder content needs a healer. On the launch snapshot, a Cleric held the best Transcendence record at 3,419 points, and Clerics took 6 of the top 17 places.

Solo play is slower. Cleric has the lowest damage index at 77, and Korean lists rate it B for PvP because it is slow and easy to silence one on one. Cleric is also the most played class on global servers, at 15.8 percent of level 45 characters.

B-Tier Classes

Assassin

Role: melee burst | PvE: B | PvP: S | Solo: B

Assassin is the second contested placement. In Korea it is a top PvP class: it tied for first in the Inven rating with maximum scores in both PvP categories. On global servers at launch, its damage index is 88 typical, one of the lowest.

Players on r/Aion2 describe the class as weak at low levels and gear but stronger later, and because it cannot absorb much damage, you need to keep moving and dodging.

Only 7.3 percent of level 45 characters are Assassins, the lowest share of any class. Pick it for PvP if you will put in the practice.

Ranger

Role: ranged physical damage | PvE: B | PvP: B | Solo: A

Ranger has one of the simplest rotations. One r/Aion2 player summed it up as three buffs on cooldown, two skills on cooldown, and holding both mouse buttons. Its damage index of 96 typical and 90 at the top end sits just under the median.

Ranger is the third most played class at 14.5 percent of level 45 characters, and Korean lists rate it B for PvP because it struggles once an enemy closes the distance.

Best Class for Beginners and Solo Play

Gladiator is the safest first class. It has high durability, heals itself through its combos, and does not need precise positioning. If you want range, pick Spiritmaster for survivability or Ranger for the easiest rotation.

Every class uses the in-game macro system. You stack skills in one slot, set their priority, and hold one key to cast them in order. Keep long-cooldown skills on their own keys so the macro does not spend them on a weak enemy.

Best PvP Classes

Templar, Gladiator, and Assassin are the S-tier PvP classes in Korean community rankings after the July 2026 balance changes. The Abyss is the PvPvE zone where Elyos and Asmodians meet.

• Templar: holds points well and tied for first in the Korean Inven rating.
• Gladiator: lifesteal on its combos restores health as it deals damage.
• Assassin: stealth and burst let it choose the fight and the target.
• Spiritmaster: scored the maximum 5 for Abyss in the Korean Inven rating.
• Sorcerer: topped the Abyss points table on the Ereshkigal launch snapshot.

Large Abyss fights favor range. One r/Aion2 player warned that a melee class steps out of its group into fire from hundreds of ranged players, with Templar as the exception.

Class Population on Global Servers

Cleric is the most played class at level 45, and Assassin is the least played. The AION2TIERLIST fan site counted 449,842 level 45 characters across 98 global servers through the official character search on October 7, 2026.

The mix changes by region. Cleric leads in Europe and NA East, Spiritmaster leads NA West at 18.3 percent, Ranger leads Latin America at 16.7 percent, and Chanter leads Asia at 18.1 percent. A rare class on your server means less competition for its party slot.

Is the Brawler in Aion 2 Global?

No. The Brawler is a ninth class that joined the Korean and Taiwanese versions in July 2026, and it did not ship with the global launch. NC has not announced a global release date for it.

All 8 launch classes are open to both Elyos and Asmodian players, but the two factions play on separate servers, so pick the side where your guild or friends already play.

Gear for Aion 2

Aion 2 runs on PC only. Every class plays through stacked skill macros, and an MMO mouse lets you bind each of those macros to its own side button. Prices below are from October 2026.
